Pilates Instructor

After losing her connection with nursing, Ann couldn’t picture herself passionately helping others through this career. Ann is now a Peak Pilates Level 3 Comprehensively Certified Instructor

Through the uncertainty, she abruptly changed her major in her third year at TWU. Ann was constantly searching for a new path that would allow her to help others passionately. With the pandemic pushing for a stay-at-home lifestyle, Ann began home workouts and swapping her diet for healthier options. She found confidence and enjoyment in seeing a change within herself both mentally and physically. Through the coincidence of a recommendation from her family and friends, Ann discovered Pilates. For Ann, Pilates acted as a guide to her undecided post-graduate life. With her many live training sessions, she realized Pilates not only improves one’s physical appearance but also develops and strengthens their life. Gaining knowledge of how the human body functions and the effects of each exercise deepened her passion. She always struggled to help and comfort others through words, but Pilates allowed her to express her love and efforts naturally. She learned Pilates is not simply a physical exercise but a way to help others gain confidence and health. Pilates helped find her ground and build a foundation she can grow to help and care for others.

Pilates Instructor
NASM Personal Trainer

Audrey is a Peak Pilates Level 1 Certified Instructor, currently working to reach the next level.

Audrey was overweight most of her life.  Her life started to change when she found Cross Country during her High School years.  As her mind and body started to get healthier, she found joy in striving to become ‘physically fit’ and living a ‘healthy lifestyle.’  As her journey continued, she developed knee pain in addition to other discomforts in and around her joints.  She realized she needed to focus on functional movement and educating herself on protecting her body from compensation and imbalance.  She was on her way to completing the NASM Personal Training Certificate program when she came across Pilates.

From years of personally experiencing weight fluctuations, she was never satisfied with her body.  Her experience with Pilates helped her feel physically and mentally satisfied.  She learned how important body alignment and body awareness are when it comes to having a confident body and mind.  Her desire to learn more about Pilates led her to become a Peak Pilates Level 1 Instructor.  She is ready and enthusiastic about helping her clients find confidence.

Co-owner
LMT
Pilates Instructor

KJ, co-owner of Pilates Foundations of Texas, is a Licensed Massage Therapist as well as a Certified Pilates Instructor from two different institutes.

He has been active all his life and always thought being active would mean he would be pain-free. Oddly enough, he suffered a number of injuries (ruptured ACL, herniated disc, torn meniscus, torn ligaments in ankle, rotator cuff injuries to name a few) resulting in muscle compensation and imbalance in his body. Like most guys, KJ brushed off these injuries like it wasn’t a big deal until he met his wife Jessica and took one lesson of Pilates. Learning about body awareness and proper muscle engagement made him realize he kept his body vulnerable to injuries and pain.

As KJ started teaching Pilates, his passion for the human body grew. After benefitting from soft tissue treatment combined with body conditioning for his own injuries, KJ decided to learn more about the human body and soft tissue treatment.

In his Pilates practice, KJ encountered clients with injuries that limited their active lifestyles. Pilates helped them strengthen their muscles and focus on body control, and manual therapy helped free up fascial restrictions, and give his clients increased mobility and decreased pain.

For about a year and a half, KJ has worked in an orthopedic therapy center with professional athletes and active adults. Learning to treat different bodies, as well as injuries, to further help his clients, KJ combines teaching and providing manual therapy to those who are looking to eliminate pain and re-train their bodies. With a thorough knowledge of human anatomy, KJ strives to help people function without pain. Apart from his work, he loves spending time with his wife and two daughters who are 3 and 5 years old.

Pilates Instructor

Jessica, co-owner of Pilates Foundations of Texas, teaches Privates sessions, workshops, and holds Peak Pilates Certification courses. She is known for the powerful teaching methods she has developed for more than 10 years.

Before she started teaching Pilates, Jessica spent most of her life with music, as she majored in Flute Performance. The specific posture required for practices and performances led to chronic pain and discomfort in her neck, wrist, back, and hips. Tired and unsuccessful from trying many different forms of strengthening exercises, she discovered Pilates after a major surgery that limited her from walking for 6 months.

Jessica understands the struggles clients face when they are introduced to a new concept. She struggled to find her body and movements at the beginning of her practice but the changes she felt after sessions rejuvenated her.

Pilates is a mind and, body workout. It trains your mind to control your body so you have proper engagement and balance. And she not only teaches clients with the same passion that changed her, but develops new instructors to teach correctly. With her great leadership abilities and vast knowledge, she is now the first Korean-American bilingual Master instructor in the US (through Peak Pilates), and she is helping many foreign-speaking instructors overcome the language barrier and understand different aspects of Pilates. Her teaching skills help instructors fully engage and connect with their clients.

Having taught more than 1,000 clients over the past 10 years, she understands that each ‘body’ is different. She customizes every session to fit your body and needs. With her second studio in Plano, TX, she is more excited than ever to build relationships that go beyond just simple exercise. Most importantly, Jessica is the fiercely proud mother of two children, which means balancing the career she loves with her desire to get dinner on the table in time!

Our Story

The Pilates Foundations of Texas is a team of a husband and wife. The Plano location was established in 2018 as a second studio with a passion to help people understand movement control. Our boutique studio uses customized Classical Pilates Methods and Orthopedic Bodywork to achieve your goals. We are fully furnished with traditional equipment from the most distinguished manufacturer in the field and are dedicated to optimizing your overall health.

Pilates was developed in the 1920s by the legendary physical trainer Joseph M. Pilates. The benefits of Pilates can include:

Manual Therapy or Orthopedic Massage Therapy aims to find the root of your pain and discomfort. We look at your body as a whole and plan our treatments accordingly. We can free up any soft tissue related limitations to your body by altering our facial system with manual therapy. Joint mobilization, myofascial release, and PNF are some of the techniques we use to achieve better muscle and joint function. We call this involuntary bodywork because the therapist is making the client’s body change so they can better control their own body.
